SCHOLARS at The Kinney Center
Students Committed to Helping Others Learn about Autism Research and Support
The Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support offers the opportunity for Saint Joseph's University undergraduates enrolled in an autism-related major to serve as Kinney SCHOLARS. Students pursuing a major in psychology, elementary education, special education or interdisciplinary health services who have an interest in autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are encouraged to apply.
SCHOLARS participate in extensive training under the supervision of a board-certified behavior analyst and a licensed psychologist. Trained SCHOLARS work directly with individuals with autism. SCHOLARS support, plan, and implement appropriate lessons; monitor participants' progress; record and study data; assist with social, behavioral and educational assessments; and supervise and provide direct physical care for program participants.
Kinney SCHOLARS participate in various training modules to become equipped with the latest skills that provide the best possible service to clients. They also participate in weekly meetings to discuss treatment progress and outcomes and ensure successful execution of Kinney programs.
SCHOLARS are representatives of both the Kinney Center and Saint Joseph's University. They must be completely committed to Kinney clients and the Center's efficient operation. SCHOLARS are interested in becoming more knowledgeable about the autism field and serving as a resource to address ASD and promote the fullest personal growth for all affected.
