The Kinney Centerfor Autism Education and Support

has a two-fold mission: to educate and train the autism professionals of tomorrow, while supporting and serving the individuals and families affected by autism today.

The Kinney Center seeks students with high aspirations of serving children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), their families, schools, service providers and community. Students will be challenged to approach the autism field in a creative, spirited and meaningful way, and to work to produce the best possible outcomes for those with ASD. The Kinney Center is committed to helping individuals with autism live greater.

The Kinney Center offers a day camp designed to bring the meaning of summer to children with autism, letting kids be kids while growing socially. Camp Kinney provides a traditional camp experience to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, ages 3-14, offering positive recreational activities along with opportunities to interact with "neuro-typical" peers. An auxiliary camp program is available to applicants over the age of 14.

Those with ASD can achieve great collegiate success, and the College Bound Retreat program is individualized support to kick-start the accomplishment of these educational goals. Attendees identify which schools are successfully supporting those with ASD and learn about living away from home, choosing an area of study and using social skills to navigate a college campus and relationships.

Inaugural Class of Kinney SCHOLAR Apprentices Set to Graduate
This spring, the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support will graduate its first class of apprentice SCHOLARS, who began working at the Kinney Center the summer prior to their first semester at SJU.
Autism Week 2016 - A Huge Success!
Autism Week 2016 hosted over 500 Kinney Supporters, and raised upwards of $25,000. We truly appreciate everyone who participated, and are already looking forward to April 2017!
Paul and Margaret Hondros to be Honored at SJU Graduation
Paul and Margaret Hondros will receive an honorary degree at this year’s SJU Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony. This is such a well-deserved honor for two individuals whose vision has changed the lives of the students we train, and families we serve.
